The final three months, the last quarter, however you want to call it is here!
Can you believe it?
Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like the end of the year can also be a new beginning. The weather is changing, the holidays are coming…oh yes! And boy does this time of year start to get busy.
But with a little bit of planning and some kindness to yourself (in case you were forgetting it’s like most important to be kind to yourself!), this can also be one of the most memorable and enjoyable times of the year.
So as I like to do each month, I’m sharing my short, easy list of activities we will make sure to enjoy this month. Not because we have to but because we want to. The fun stuff! The times that make great memories, traditions, and bring us peace & joy.
Take In The Scenery
Either go for a walk or a drive but make sure to get outdoors and take in the beautiful fall colors before they are gone.
I often notice the trees changing on my drive to work but we’ve made it a point for the past few years now to take a day to truly focus on getting out in nature and exploring all of the changing, vibrant colors.
We were so lucky to spend some time in the Wisconsin North Woods at the peak of the leaves changing color in 2019. It was stunning!
P and I would look to see how many different colors we could find and it was really incredible how much more you notice when you take the time to appreciate it and soak it all in. Talk about relaxation, mindfulness, and peace all wrapped into one.
But don’t worry if you can not travel somewhere to see these colors. You will be surprised at how much you will notice in your area once you take the time to slow down and enjoy it.
Visit A Local Pumpkin Patch
My husband and I enjoyed this before having kids and we look forward to this tradition every year!
Although we have our favorite go-to pumpkin patch we visit each year, some years we manage to fit in a few more.
So many have fun rides, activities, play areas, yummy food, and of course pumpkins galore! Not to mention enjoying a nice fall day outside supporting a local farm, it’s a must on our October bucket list.
Baking…With Pumpkin
Ok, I’m going to brag a little, but I make awesome pumpkin bread. Well, minus the one time I totally messed up on the timing and dumped out an ooey goes mess…but all the other times it’s awesome.
The only thing is I totally cannot bring myself to make or eat anything pumpkin besides in October.
Yep come November, I’m over it.
So here’s to pumpkin in October!
Halloween Movies & Shows
So this is kind of something we disagree on in our household.
My husband would choose scary movies and I mean like really scary movies. I used to be into them and I don’t know if it’s having kids, getting older, or that adulthood is scary enough but I cannot watch anything scary anymore.
So we tend to watch a lot of the pumpkin carving challenges, baking challenges, and my favorite classic, It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.
Holiday Crafting & Creating
Now don’t get me wrong, if you have been following along with me then you know that I love to get crafty all year long! Always have, since I was 7 and setting up my own store with my “creations”.
But doing it around the holidays gets even better.
You can create decor, gifts, memories, or just enjoy the time to create.
October feels like the start of weeks and weeks of endless creative opportunity. So grab your supplies and most importantly have fun.
